CAPPA Virtual Event: Rounding and Use of the Roundulator (Excel Add-in)

Wednesday, February 21, 2024

11:45 am – 1:00pm

Venue: Virtual via Webex

As production accountants, we are asked to endlessly allocate series of numbers. For example, sales volumes are allocated from a single measurement point back to multiple dimensions: producing entities, partners, products, components, purchasers, contracts, etc. It’s extremely important that when series are allocated to a new dimension all allocated results sum correctly to the control totals from the prior dimension.

This lunch & learn will explore

  • Rounding theory
  • Use of the progressive rounding algorithm
  • Rounding within Excel spreadsheets
  • Why the Excel @round function fails
  • Use of an Excel add-in file called the Roundulator_CNTL_Q that provides on-demand fixed point progressive rounding within Excel

Seminar Materials

Attendees will be sent the following files closer to the event date.

  • Powerpoint Slide deck - Rounding
  • Excel File 1 – Roundulator_CNTL_Q
  • Excel File 2 – Example file for to demonstrate the use of the roundulator
Registration Closes Noon February 15.

Cicso Webex meeting invitations will be sent out on February 16 with instructions on how to join the meeting.
