Seminar Description
Saskatchewan is an inviting jurisdiction for oil industry producers; with an attractive investment climate, Saskatchewan wells account for 15% of total Canadian crude produced. Many Production Accountants are familiar with Alberta reporting; however there are a number of integral differences in Saskatchewan production accounting concepts.
This seminar will teach participants about the main differences in Saskatchewan production accounting, and facilitate a further understanding of the reporting required for the Saskatchewan jurisdiction. It is ideal both for production accountants who are currently involved in Saskatchewan, as well as for production accountants interested in gaining further knowledge about Saskatchewan reporting.

Workshop format
This workshop is an interactive, instructor-led session. Participants will develop an understanding of Saskatchewan production accounting, working through examples and reviewing production reporting concepts.

This course is intended for production accountants who have some familiarity with production accounting but who want to further their understanding of Saskatchewan production accounting.
Speakers:
Kim Skirten
Kim has worked in the oil and gas industry since the mid-80’s, mainly in Production Accounting. Kim has a strong Saskatchewan Production Accounting background, and has also worked with Alberta, BC, and Manitoba Production Accounting as well.
Kim started as a Revenue Accountant at Total Petroleum and worked in various Production and Revenue Accounting roles over the years and was most recently the Supervisor, Saskatchewan Production/Revenue Accounting at Penn West Exploration until she moved into her current role as Manager, Production/Revenue Accounting at Northern Blizzard as of September 2014.
Kim was a subject matter expert for the Petrinex Saskatchewan Inclusion Project. Kim is strong supporter of CAPPA and is a recent member of the CAPPA board, occasional CAPPA instructor, and CAPPA Government/Industry/Emerging Issues committee member.
Sean Nicholson
Born and raised in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan it seemed to be a natural fit that he learns the ropes for Production Accounting on Saskatchewan properties.
Sean’s first opportunity was at Renaissance Energy (now Husky Energy) doing exclusively Saskatchewan properties in the Swift Current area. From there he went to Baytex to do more Saskatchewan Production Accounting. The next stop was Samson Canada where he was able to work into a leadership position in the BC Production Accounting Group. Sean was Manager, Production/Revenue Accounting at both Fairborne Energy (2006-2009) and more recently Trilogy Energy (2009-2015). Deciding that he had been away from Saskatchewan properties for far too long, he left Trilogy to be the Manager, Production/Revenue Accounting at Crescent Point Energy in April 2015. Sean has a large group at Crescent Point and enjoys the challenge of leading and mentoring Production Accountants.
In addition to his work, Sean felt a need to give back to the career that helped him so much. For several years Sean was the primary instructor for the Saskatchewan and BC Reporting and Saskatchewan Royalty Modules for the CAPPA Program. Sean also joined the Conference Committee for CAPPA and began a fruitful nine year stint on the Board of Directors of CAPPA in 2006 with the privilege of serving two years as President of CAPPA. In 2015 Sean decided to step away from the Board and was awarded a Lifetime Membership.
Sean is also the Industry Representative for the Explorers and Producers Association of Canada (EPAC) on the Petrinex Steering Committee.
In 2015 Sean successfully graduated from the Smith School of Business (Queen’s University) with an MBA.

Cancellations must be received by email to office@cappa.org in order to cancel event registration.
The following refund policy applies to this event:
Full refunds will be given if cancellation to CAPPA occurs prior to midnight on September 12, 2016
A 50% refund will be given if cancellation to CAPPA occurs prior to midnight on September 13, 2016
Refunds will not be given after September 19th.
A $20 administration fee is applies to full and partial refunds.
Registration, however, may be transferred to another attendee without an administration fee. Please notify CAPPA of the transfer to another attendee. The original registrant would be responsible to sort the payment out offline with the new attendee.
